We are a small independent ski holiday company now entering its sixth highly successful ski season. We specialize in giving high quality ski holiday accommodation in luxury catered chalets and self chalets apartments all within seconds of the piste. We have properties in four resorts – La Plagne, La Rosiere, Les Sept Laux (near Grenoble) and in Grimentz, Switzerland.
We operate all of our own accommodation and know the ski resorts and accommodation / ski chalets intimately and we expect our staff to be of high caliber, even our cleaners! In return we give a very competitive salary and you get a lot of skiing!
CHALET HOST - Couples mainly – we need a number of these and at least 2 of the couples MUST be experienced and the others more mature!
Job Description
Catering
- Provide all meals to a high standard, exact menu to be discussed and agreed with Mountain Heaven Ltd, 6 days per week. Meals to consist of:
-Breakfast (This may include a selection of cereals, eggs cooked to the request of guests, fruit juices, coffee and teas, fresh fruit, yoghurts, fresh French bread/croissants and a selection of jams and spreads)
- Afternoon tea (This includes freshly baked cakes laid out with coffee, tea, hot chocolate etc.)
- Children's high teas, when necessary served at approximately 6pm
- NB: On the chalet hosts day off breakfast to be laid out the night before for self service and a cake must be baked the day before for the afternoon tea
- 3-course dinner with wine/drinks/coffees served at approximately 8pm taking account of any special requirements such as vegetarian meals and allergies etc.
- Provide an enhanced service for Christmas day and New Years Eve and where there are birthdays/other special events modify the service as appropriate
- Responsible for presenting all meals in a careful and imaginative way
- Lay the table ready for dinner in a neat and inviting manner
- Serving, clearing away and washing up after the children's high teas and the evening meal
- Meal Planning / Shopping for food
Budgeting/Finances
- Be responsible for ensuring that all budgets are adhered to and that all financial records are maintained for inspection
- Maintain adequate records for things such as tax de sejour payments
Housekeeping
- Responsible for the overall cleanliness and presentation of the chalet on changeover day
- Ensure that excellent standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained in/around the chalet at all times - particular focus on the kitchen, kitchen equipment, dining room/area and food storage areas
- Clean kitchen, kitchen equipment and dining room/area, floors daily
- Ensure that fridge and freezer temperatures are maintained at a safe level for the storage and preservation of food; reports any issues immediately
- Set up and follow a rota for weekly cleaning in the kitchen (ovens, hoods, other appliances)
- Help to set up and close down the chalet at the start and end of the season
- Prepare laundry for collection /possibly help with delivery of laundry as required
- Clean and tidies as needed during the week. Vacuum and/or mop floors in common areas and corridors as needed during the week.
